I am a child of God and this is who I am, I will wait patiently for the Lord. I will wait for the Lord with trust and confidence and with faith of his future return. I will not be a wicked servant. Matthew 24:48-49 "But if that wicked servant says to himself , My master is delayed," and begins to beat his fellow servants and eats and drinks with drunkards." I will not act wickedly as an unfaithful servant in my wait for the Lord. I will do my best to be bless by him rather than to be punished. My heart is for him and I will obey his words. Psalm 25:4-5 "Make me to know your ways, O LORD; teach me your paths. Lead me in your truth and teach me, for you are the God of my salvation; for you I wait all the day long."
Before David was king, he was on the run from his enemies. David was waiting for the LORD to deliver him. In his waiting, he held strong to his faith and trust in the LORD. Psalm 27:1,3 "The LORD is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? The LORD is the stronghold of my life; of whom shall I be afraid? Though an army encamp against me, my heart shall not fear; though war arise against me, yet I will be confident." This was his hope in his waiting. Psalm 27:4 "One thing I have asked of the LORD, that I will seek after; that I may dwell in the house of the LORD all the days of my life, to gaze upon the beauty of the LORD and to inquire in his temple."
I will wait on the Lord to answer my prayers. Psalm 38:15 "But for you, O LORD, do I wait; it is you, O LORD my God, who will answer." Micah 7:7 "But as for me, I will look to the LORD; I will wait for the God of my salvation; my God will hear me." In our waiting, we have faith and trust in God that he hears our prayers. We will wait patiently for his answers for he is the God of our salvation and our hope.
We will keep busy while waiting for the Lord. 1 Corinthians 15:58 "Therefore, my beloved brothers, be steadfast, immovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, knowing that in the Lord your labor is not in vain." Galatians 6:9 "And let us not grow weary of doing good, for in due season we will reap, if we do not give up." Colossians 3:23-24 "Whatever you do, work heartily, as for the Lord and not for men, knowing that from the Lord you will receive the inheritance as your reward. You are serving the Lord Christ." Whatever we are waiting for, an answer to our prayer or the return of Jesus Christ we must continue to be busy in the Lord's service.
In our waiting for the Lord, we are putting our trust, hope and salvation into his hands. We want to live our life as Jesus lived his. We want to do the will of God and be welcomed into his kingdom. We are living our lives by our faith in God. Romans 8:25 "But if we hope for what we do not see, we wait for it with patience." While waiting patiently, we should not be worried or anxious in what the world is doing. Psalm 37:7 "Be still before the LORD and wait patiently for him; fret not yourself over the one who prospers in his way, over the man who carries out evil devices!" Proverbs 19:21 "Many are the plans in the the mind of a man, but it is the purpose of the LORD that will stand." I believe I will do what King David is doing and saying in Psalm 26:13-14 "I believe that I shall look upon the goodness of the LORD in the land of the living! Wait for the LORD; be strong, and let your heart take courage; wait for the LORD!"
