Put On the New Self

Colossians 3:12 Put on then, as God's chosen ones, holy and beloved, compassionate hearts, kindness, humility, meekness, and patience, 13 bearing with one another and, if one has a complaint against another, forgiving each other; as the Lord has forgiven you, so you also must forgive. 14 And above all these put on love, which binds everything together in perfect harmony. 15 And let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, to which indeed you were called in one body. And be thankful.                            (ESV)

Husbands, Love Your Wives

Eph. 5:22 Husbands, love your wives, as Christ loved the church and gave himself up for her. 28 In the same way husbands should love their own bodies. He who loves his wife loves himself. 29 For no one ever hated his own flesh, but nourishes and cherishes it, just as Christ does the church. 31 "Therefore a man shall leave his father and mother and hold fast to his wife, and the two shall become one flesh." 33 However, let each one of you love his wife as himself, and let the wife see that she respects her husband.

Without Love

1 Cor.13:1 If I speak in the tongues of men and of angels, but have not love, I am a noisy gong or a clanging cymbal. 2 And if I have prophetic powers, and understand all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have all faith, so as to remove mountains, but have not love, I am nothing. 3 If I give away all I have, and if I deliver up my body to be burned,* but have not love, I gain nothing.

*Some manuscripts deliver up my body [to death] that I my boast.         (ESV)

Love Your Fellow Christian

1 John 2:9 Whoever says, "I am in the light," but hates his fellow-Christian, is still in darkness. 10 He who loves his fellow-Christian dwells in light: there is no cause of stumbling in him. 11 But anyone who hates his fellow is in darkness; he walks in the dark and has no idea where he is going, because the darkness has made him blind.
1 John 3:10 This is what shows who are God's children and who are the devil's: anyone who fails to do what is right or love his fellow-Christians is not a child of God.
1 John 3:11 The message you have heard from the beginning is that we should love one another. 12 Do not be like Cain, who was a child of the evil one and murdered his brother. And why did he murder him? Because his own actions were wrong, and his brother's were right. 1 John 2:29 You know that God is righteous; then recognize that everyone who does what is right is his child.
1 john 3:23 His command is that we should give our allegiance to his Son Jesus Christ and love one another, as Christ commanded us.             [REB]

Let Us Love in Deed and in Truth

1 John 3:13-18, "Do not marvel, brothers, that the world hates you. 14 We know we have passed over from death to life, because we love the brothers. He who does not love remains in death. 15 Everyone who hates his brother is a manslayer, and you know that no manslayer has everlasting life remaining in him. 16 By this we have come to know love, because that one surrendered his soul for us; and we are under obligation to surrender [our] souls for [our] brothers. 17 But whoever has this world's means for supporting life and beholds his brother having need and yet shuts the door of his tender compassion upon him, in what way does the love of God remain in him? 18 Little children, let us love, neither in word nor with tongue, but in deed and truth.     [NWT]

Have Love Among Yourselves

In Mark 12:30, Jesus says, "and you must love Jehovah your God with your whole heart and with your whole soul and with your whole mind and with your whole strength." verse 31 The second is this,'You must love your neighbor as your self.'There is no other commandment greater than these.'  In the old testament Leviticus 19:18 even says, "You must not take vengeance nor have a grudge against the sons of your people; and you must love your fellow as yourself. I am Jehovah."
1 John 4:20 "If anyone makes the statement:"I love God,"and yet is hating his brother, he is a liar. For he who does not love his brother, whom he has seen, cannot be loving God, whom he has not seen. 21 And this commandment we have from him, that the one who loves God should be loving his brother also."
In John 13:34 Jesus said,"I am giving you a new commandment, that YOU love one another; just as I have loved YOU,  that YOU also love one another; 35 By this all will know that YOU are my disciples, if YOU have love among yourselves."

Jesus Loved Us All the Way to the Very End

1 John 4:8 states God is Love. 1 John 4:7 says "Beloved ones, let us continue loving one another because love is from God, and everyone who loves has been born from God and gains the knowledge of God. Then verse 8 says "He that does not love has not come to know God, because God is love."
Jesus held tight to his love even while being impaled on the cross. In Luke 23:34 [ But Jesus was saying:"Father forgive them for they do not know what they are doing."] John 15:9 Jesus says "Just as the Father has loved me and I have loved you, remain in my love. Verse 10 "If you observe my commandments you will remain in my love, just as I have observed the commandments of the Father and remain in his love."
Jesus went to the cross by choice because he loved his Father and he loved us. In Matthew 26:53 Jesus said to one of his followers "or do you think that I cannot appeal to my Father to supply me at this moment more than twelve legions of angels?" 54 "In that case how would the Scriptures be fulfilled that it must take place this way?"
John 13:1 "Now, because he knew before the festival of the passover that his hour had come for him to move out of this world to the Father, Jesus, having loved his own that were in the world, loved them to the end."
